The Loft

Our first pictures of the loft and the mezzanine were taken after John spent the better part of the day wearing a respirator, sweeping, removing bird's nests and debris. At this point, the mezzanine, above the north bay, still contains the old office desks. West end of the mezzanine.
The east side of the mezzanine will later be devoted to stairwell, and laundry room. East end of the mezzanine
This picture has most of the original loft, cleaned and de-birded. The loft.
Here are two shots of the loft with kitchenette, closet and bathroom framed in. The first shot is "before windows" the second is "after windows". New insulation has been added to the roof, but the walls aren't insulated yet. Looking northeast.

Here's the mezzanine at the framing stage, looking west you see that the old stairway to the ground floor is gone. Looking east you see that the new stairway is framed in, turning a corner and wrapping around the new laundry as it climbs. Looking west.

This step shows several views of the interior at the wallboard-only stage. In the Northeast view, to the right of the closet opening is the bathroom door opening. Behind the closet is the kitchenette. The Southeast view shows the original hay door (a 4'x4' slider for loading hay), which we did not remove. The mezzanine.

When everything else was done, we discovered that floorcoverings were outside our budget. So, we scrubbed the existing plywood and applied two coats of varathane. We worked a section at a time so we could move around. the floor
