2019
in Pictures
with a few from fall 2018.

After a lapse in 2018, here is the illustrated version of our 2019 Christmas letter.

Ah, yes, there was that "refurbishing" project. It really was pretty elaborate. And... a learning experience. in fall 2018, we had a double-wide manufactured home moved from its former location inside a wetland buffer (where it had been placed before we purchased the property), for installation in a better location on a proper foundation.

Then throughout a snowy winter and a cold, muddy spring we had the utiility infrastructure installed, while we refurbished the inside, repainted throughout, and dealt with the rain runoff.

We installed new cabinets and plumbing fixtures.

Months later, we were pretty proud when it sold.

No year would be complete without a few fish pictures. There were several fishing trips; on separate trips our two sons brought home, respectively, a large cabezon and a king salmon.

John, ever the comic, also contributed.

But wait! The "crazy John and Ruth show" went on. Looking around our own property in July, we realized our barn needed care. Some siding needed replacement, and everything needed paint.

We are members of "the elderly". We feared for our lives were we to use too many ladders. Instead we rented a fine boom lift, which we used to power wash and paint the roof and paint the higher walls.

I cannot tell a lie. We had great fun operating this machine. What a modern marvel hydraulic advantage is! Here's John at work painting barn.

While we were busy with our projects, Bo and Leah, it turns out, began a project of their own. In October, Leah gave birth to an excellent baby boy, Bowen Lee. Here are just a couple of pictures.

Meantime, life on the farm goes on. Among other things, an invasive scotch broom plant to dig up, as well as a happy recipient of the result.
